spot on again man, i love the hammer films, it took me many years to find this one as it was a very limited release on dvd here in the states but i finally got it and completed my hammer frankenstein collection
It is too bad Hammer’s original materials weren’t stored well. Most of their negatives and tracks had been stored in non-weatherproof warehouses in the UK until MGM got their library in the 1990s. This film was in particularly bad shape. I worked on the soundtrack restoration for DVD release. Much of the foley had to be re-recorded and we had to reconstruct some of the music and dialogue by taking a word or notes from different scenes than the original to plug the holes. We might have done more, but these kinds of films only get 40-60 hours budget for clean-up. At least it was a pleasure to work on because it’s such a good movie.
