CRAWLER’S CHAOS: Toxic Zombies/aka Forest Of Fear/aka Bloodeaters (1980)

IS AVAILABLE ON DVD IN A RETRO QUALITY CHEAP DISC WITH THE THRILLS OF OLD 80’S VHS AND BETAMAX PICTURE, VIA AMAZON UNDER THE TOXIC ZOMBIES TITLE.

THOUGH POOR JOHN AMPLAS (ROMERO’S BABYFACED MARTIN), DOESN’T GET MUCH TIME AS ONE OF A DUO OF POLICE OFFICERS TRACKING THE ZOMBIES OF THE TITLE, IT’S FUN TO WATCH HIS SHOCKED EXPRESSION THROUGHOUT. IN FACT, I CAN’T RECALL A SCENE IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED MARTIN, KNIGHTRIDERS, OR DAY OF THE DEAD, WHEN HE HAD ANY OTHER EXPRESSION… GREAT BEARD IN DOTD THOUGH, TOOK AWAY THAT BABY LOOK SLIGHTLY.

THIS IS A FUN FILM, AS A GANG OF HIPPIES SECRETLY GROW HERBALS DEEP IN THE FOREST (OOH, LIKE ITS OTHER TITLE), AND ARE SPRAYED BY MANCHESTER MORGUE STYLE EXPERIMENTAL PESTICIDES, THUS BECOMING MARAUDING FLESH EATERS. MEANWHILE, A FAMILY BECOME TRAPPED AND MUST FIND A WAY OUT OF THE FOREST.

SCRIPT AND ACTING ABILITY ARE NOT THE TWO THINGS TO FOCUS ON IN THIS FLICK, JUST ENJOY THE ACTION AND GORE, WHICH THOUGH QUITE FAR APART FROM EACH OTHER, ARE VERY EFFECTIVE.

SUMMARY: A STRAIGHT FORWARDS EARLY 80’S SWITCH YOUR HEAD OFF MOVIE, WITH ENOUGH FUN FOR ANY ZOMBIE FAN.
